About Fort Lewis LacrosseFort Lewis College sits on a mesa overlooking the City of Durango and the 13,000-foot peaks of the La Plata Mountains. The college's distinctive architecture of custom-chiseled sandstone reflects the heritage of the Southwest Colorado's prehistoric Pueblo Indians, whose ancient pueblo ruins can be found throughout the region.
The Fort Lewis Lacrosse Club was established in the early 1980's. Since the teams formation, the sport of lacrosse in Colorado and the FLC team has sexperienced significant growth. The Skyhawks begin their 11th year competing in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference. The Skyhawks look to the 2007 season with high expectations and nothing less than a Division II championship. They know this is going to be a huge challenge, especially with the strength and amount of talent that keeps entering all of the teams in the league, and with the departure of many starters. FLC is preparing themselves to compete on the national level with a very ambitious schedule with teams in 2 different leagues. The Fort Lewis Lacrosse Club is part of the college education and growth experience. It's a proud and successful competitor in the RMLC Division B. The culmination this 2007 spring season with the winning of the Conference and National titles are the primary goals. However, Head Coach John Robinette, and Assistant Coaches Philip Jones, Pat McCauley and Andrew Cameron believe that as student athletes, these young men will attain many other goals as well. Their responsibility for personal growth, pride, commitment and integrity will continue to mature on and off the field. We look forward to new players and fans always.
